Cover: Dark photograph of The Great Sphinx with Giza pyramids in background. The photograph is at night with a pitch background and several stars. "Pink Floyd" is outlined across the top with the "O" missing from Floyd. In its place is an eclipse-like event (a star coming around the side of an astral body). "Foreign Legion" is written in white and is right justified immediately below "PF". The CD is completely gold with "Foreign Legion" written in black across the bottom; that is a signature of all HEAD productions.

Comments: Embryo and Set the controls are the only complete songs; good versions. The first Cymbaline has ~1-2mins of jamming with Wright and Mason, so not much Cymbaline exists to warrant the title. Both AHM are faded in about 5mins into the song. The 1st AHM is without orchestra; the 2nd is with. Not a must have, but a nice oddity. Looking at the database, there are no other entries for these two dates. So this isn't available elsewhere, or the dates listed on the CD are inaccurate. - PIG1DO

Avoid this one. El Stinko Grande. Audio quality is crap, and much of it appears to be tape scraps which fell to the floor during an editing session. Unless you're a completist (and need to hear every possible example of someone tuning a guitar or checking overall instrument mix levels), this offers very little.

Roger Waters makes a number of noticeable out-and-out mistakes. However, Nick Mason's drumming performances are quite good, as is Wright's Hammond work (more overdriven, distorted, growly than normal), and Gilmour is faithful (always good).

A shame, as the packaging is quite attractive but ultimately is only a tease as I would give the audio quality a 3+ or a 4. In addition, Atom Heart Mother begins with Gilmour's first slide solos - the entire beginning of the song - from the powerful opening chord sequence through Wright's/Waters' arpeggios-is lopped off!

Again, avoid it. It's dredging the bottom of the barrel. - Z-MAN
